Members may want to be cautious about crunching Folding work to our Genome number. While Stanford claims the backend stats change has been implemented, there have been power failures and steady forum complaints about Genome stats credit not going where it should. Pandegroup does not appear to have it all sorted out yet.

The promised server change that allows folding credit to be assigned to our genome team has been implemented.

Our missing PPC Genome crunch capability is on the way in the months ahead. Don't hold your breath.
No word yet on the server changes that would let us assign Folding credit to the Genome team.

Ok, the missing Member Totals graphic is fixed. I only forgot about it for a year.

It looks like we are about to have a Mac Genome capability. Due to complaints from various Genome users, Vijay Pande has indicated that server modifications are underway. When they are done, if you specify a Genome team number only, all work done by the client will be credited to the Genome team. This includes Folding work units. The reverse is already true for PC users: specify a Folding team number only, and all work (including genome units) will be credited to the Folding team. Just remember that our Genome team number is 661024393.

Ok, I finally registered on the Folding project forum, and posted asking about the missing PPC Genome core. Anyone else interested can feel free to jump in, perhaps we can break something loose. Even a timetable for release would be a start.

It seems that Stanford has changed policy, you can crunch into the Genome stats system by setting the client to a valid Genome@home team number instead of a Folding@home team number. At least you can with the PC clients.
The Mac client is still missing the Genome crunch core as of this posting. Someone has posted about the missing PPC core "core_c9.fah" in this project thread, but the project people do not seem in a hurry to answer. I think that is the Genome core, the other alternative would be the Gromacs altivec-enabled Folding core. We should be getting both.
Anyone interested may want to post to that thread, to encourage an answer from the project folks, and to let them know more people are watching.
If they would just break loose with the core we need, I could start ramping up our Genome stats.

Stats updates have been cut back to once per day to minimize server load. If enough MacNN members jumped into this PC-only project, the stats can be ramped back up.

It now appears that Genome will not release a Mac client. A Genome core will become part of Folding@home, but the stats from that core will apply to Folding. The Genome@home effort will continue as long as there is user interest, but there will be little further development. A Mac client would almost certainly require more than "a little" development work.
Most of this info came from the Genome news FAQ. These changes are not yet fixed in stone, the Pande group is inviting feedback on their plans.

Basic Quickstats are working, along with the current member listing.

A Mac client that allows the user to crunch Genome@home or Folding@home could arrive at any time. It appears to be waiting on the new Folding code base.
In the mean time, Shaktai has started a Genome team for us. The team number is 661024393, and the member page is here. It does not seem proper to build our Genome section until we get a Mac client, but basic quickstats are within reason. If other projects (with Mac clients) were not missing site pages, it might be different.
Scott had founded a team for us a while back, and was periodically crunching a few units for it. That team vanished, we do not know how it got deleted.

It has been pretty quiet on the Mac Genome front.
Stanford has released Folding@home clients for the Mac, and the Genome code base is believed to be closely related to the Folding code base. One would hope this means that we will have a Mac Genome client before too much longer.

Unfortunately, the Mac client has not been released as of this writing. Check back for news and the necessary links and installation instructions.
