This site is meant to be a journal of the construction of my B-9 robot from the ground up.  It may not be as detailed as I would like, but between family, work, building country hutch's to sell for robot building money and of course building the robot itself, time is not all that plentiful these days.  But if you have any questions or comments, please by all means email me.

The TV series “Lost in Space” was a great example of a good idea going bad, it started off great and became more and more campy as the series progressed.  But my favorite part of the series was always the ever present robot (B-9) that was the brunt of Dr. Smith’s weekly verbal abuse and Will’s constant companion and friend.  Every time I watched that show I wondered what it would be like to have my very own 7 foot tall metal monstrosity

Well, some 40 years later, I've decided to finally build that robot for myself.  This is not just a child’s dream, it’s more of a challenge to myself to see if I can built something complex and detailed from beginning to end and have a good look alike to the real LIS robot when I’m done.

There are many great B-9 builders out their who have built complete B-9 robots for under $5000 all the way up to completely remote controlled, blinking and talking versions and have spent well over $15,000 on them. Many of them have great web sites documenting this and some even have tips on how they built these fantastic creations. If you would like to get started building your own B-9 robot from lost in space also, please come and join us in the forum at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/B9Talk/ and the official club site at www.b9robotbuildersclub.com

Which verions to make?  Well, why most seem to go for the nicer 2nd/3rd season version(on left), I plan on a more mixed version - a blend of both possiably, but only time will tell.
The three year run of the LIS series saw several changes in the robots appearance from the first season to the second a still a few more minor changes by the time the third and final season rolled around.  I plan on building a second season robot with few minor changes, like working colored chest buttons like the white ones in the first season and maybe a little reworking of the legs also.
