Mal de Mer III has over 15 years and 15000 miles of experience

We often anchor at the California Channel Islands, which are renowned for good sailing and interesting anchorages. Santa Cruz Island is one of our summer favorites. We sail to the Catalina Isthmus all year round.

Our crew usually goes below when we are out, and the first mate sleeps (the boat is named after her). The autopilot and I do most of the sailing.  One of the nice things about having a J40 is that the crew is entitled to her own head.

We make a lot of use of the downstairs table. Besides using it for eating, the first mate's hobby is sewing, and a small inverter turns the main cabin into a sewing room.

Of course the J40 cockpit also makes a lovely dining area on a nice day

We have also installed a bunch of electronics in the nav station, are regular users of charting programs, and use GPS to drive the autopilot much of the time. We are also hams (KO6CK, KE6RIB).

We're looking forward to hearing from you with suggestions, comments, questions about the J40 and J40 sailing.  Also, articles and news to include on the Web Page.  Ed&Cindy
