Historical weather events for this day
Friday was mostly clear except for a few patchy high clouds and a few Cumulus clouds over the High Sierra. An upper ridge that built in behind Thursday's trough allowed for temperatures to rise a bit over Thursday.
The high temperature reached 86.5°F at 4:02 PM and a low of 62.6°F at 7:08 AM.
Winds were northeasterly during the nighttime hours, becoming south to southwesterly by 10:00 AM and continuing until about 6:30 PM. There was a peak wind gust of 6mph at 12:49 PM.
This morning is clear and slightly warmer than 24 hours
ago, with the current temperature +0.9°F over yesterday. Today is expected
to remain mostly clear and about the same temperature as Friday, with a high
forecast to be near
A trough of low pressure off the coast image above should near the coast on Sunday and pass to our north on Monday, slightly lowering our temperatures and increasing the onshore flow. Precipitation is forecast to remain well to the north of Magalia, but some high clouds may pass overhead as the trough passes to our north.
Behind Tuesday's trough passage should see high pressure build back in with a vengeance. Hot temperatures and the chance for an offshore wind event may bring Red Flag fire conditions to Magalia for the latter half of next week.
Bob Vincent
Hopefully the fires of late that have had "suspicious" circumstances surrounding them won't occur during the possible windy periods that may plague our area the latter half of next week. Vigilance during times of high fire danger will be the responsibility of all of us if we want to make it through the fire season here on "The Ridge".
