Sunday continued the string of beautiful Spring days,
with warm temperatures and sunny skies for much of the day. Some high clouds
began to drift over us late in the afternoon as a weak front approached, but
not before the temperature reached a high of 80.4°F at 2:45 PM, and a
morning low of 48.4°F at 6:09 AM. Winds were generally light and
variable averaging 1-4mph, with a 5mph gust at 12:47 PM.
This morning is seeing mostly cloudy skies image
below left as the front is passing through Nor-Cal image above
right and some gusty north northeast winds blowing since about 3:50
AM. We've had a peak wind gust so far of 7mph at 4:48 AM. Temperatures are
running about 3°F warmer than 24 hours ago due to the cloud cover and the
compressional
heating
of the offshore winds. Skies should see a mix of clouds and sun today with a
high temperature near 74°F and a low near 50°F. Northeast winds are expected
to continue tonight into tomorrow. Temperatures are forecast to start going
up on Tuesday as a
strong
high pressure area off the West Coast moves east over us. We are
expecting some of the hottest temperatures of this year later this week,
with a high temperature on Thursday and Friday near the mid-90°s and lows
near the mid-60°s. There is a Special Weather Statement regarding this heat
wave three sections above this one. We should
see a little cooling late this weekend as the high shifts to the east in
response to a series of troughs passing to our north. The fire danger will
be increasing this week, so please be careful and vigilant. Have a good
Monday.
