Please be advised that Captain John K. Raines, has served, and is serving as Captain of Motor Sailing Vessel "Turkey Tracks"(O.N. 674615 77 GT) since October 10, 1995. 

Captain Raines responsibilities include, but are not limited to: overall responsibility for safety, navigation, and steerage of the vessel, all maintenance, mechanical, electrical and structural, planning activities for date and time of passages, routes and ports of call, management of port authorities, customs and government officials, port and vessel clearances, documents and related activities and selection of agents and accommodators. Work periods are typically at least 12 hour shifts. 

During this time I have found Captain Raines highly competent in the performance of all his responsibilities.

This letter is to confirm that Capt. John K. Raines, USCG License #734651, served as evaluation and shake-down cruise skipper of the Nordhavn 62 motor vessel, Hull #2, of 62.5 GT displacement, during her passage from Long Beach, California to Fort Lauderdale, Florida via San Francisco, California, Honolulu, Hawaii and the Panama Canal. 

This voyage originated in Long Beach, California on April 4, 1995, and concluded in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on June 12, 1995. Total time at sea during this passage was 62 days, each of which were at least twelve (12) hours in duration. 

I have found Captain Raines' service exemplary during this test and evaluation voyage and recommend him without reservation.

Raines, USCG License #734651, served aboard American Dream (O.N. 1021672, 99.2 GT) during her delivery cruise from Boston, MA to San Diego, CA, via the Panama Canal. This voyage commenced September 28, 1994 and ended October 29, 1994 for a total of 32 days at sea. Each of these days were in excess of 12 hours.
